Evaluator Academy
This 40-hour intensive training for administrators and peer observers is intended to develop skills to objectively evaluate teaching practices and to provide actionable feedback about a teacher’s professional practice. Topics include:
- The role of the evaluator and teacher in the observation process
- Inter-rater reliability calibration
- Evidence collection
- Accurate assessment and alignment of teacher practice using the NYSUT Teacher Practice rubric
- Evidence-based feedback
The fee for this training is $1,000 per person (for a minimum of 8 participants).

Evaluator Re-calibration Training
Maintaining an evaluator’s inter-rater reliability is an ongoing process that requires periodic calibration and a systemic plan for on-going professional learning. In this training program, participants will:
- Gain experience in the use and application of the rubric, such as aligning evidence to appropriate performance indicators based on strong rationale
- Enhance skills to provide evidence-based feedback to teachers
The fee for this training is $500 per person (for a minimum of 8 participants).

Evaluator Refresher Training (District Requested)
ELT will create a customized half-day, full-day or multiple day training for evaluators and peer observers that focuses on increasing familiarity with the NYSUT Teacher Practice Rubric as well as improving the accuracy of evidence alignment. Scheduling is flexible based on the requesting organization.
The fee for this training is $1,500 (for a maximum of 35 participants).

Evaluator Refresher Training (For Individual Registrants)
This training is for evaluators and peer observers. This program focuses on increasing familiarity with the NYSUT Teacher Practice Rubric as well as improving the accuracy of evidence alignment. Evaluators and peer observers will engage in deep conversations around instruction, student learning and growth.
The fee for this training is $150 per person. A minimum of 10 participants is required for training to run.
