Address the whole child

ELT NEWSLETTER January 2025

Address the whole child

And earn CTLE hours

All learners deserve empathy. Empathy and understanding are crucial for growth and development. When students enter our classrooms, they are continuing a lifelong journey to excel. Not only should we be teaching the curriculum, but we must also encourage students to pursue excellence. In these two asynchronous seminars, educators will learn how to demonstrate empathy and teach the whole child, to help them reach their true potential. Each asynchronous seminar is worth 3-5 CTLE hours.

NYSUT can help

Ready to earn your master's degree, but don't know where to start?

NYSUT's Education & Learning Trust (ELT), in partnership with Mercy University offers members a path to earn up to nine Mercy University graduate credits toward Mercy University’s online Master of Science Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Once you complete your 9 credits, you can matriculate to Mercy University using our partnership benefit program. NYSUT members can obtain a graduate degree completely online. You do not need to be located within miles of a Mercy campus.

In Teaching English as a Second Language, educators will discover the historical, legal, theoretical and practical aspects of teaching English in preschool through 12th grade. The course covers language acquisition theories for children and adults, as well as for students with special needs.
