Learn to ask the right questions

And earn CTLE hours

Questions are an essential part of teaching. Questions can help educators verify that students are understanding the lesson and taking away the right information. But questions can also inspire their students to action, prompting them to take an active part in investigations, analysis and prediction. This three-seminar series will demonstrate how to ask questions that mobilize students and re-energize classrooms. These remote classes are offered asynchronously, and each is worth 5 CTLE hours. All courses are discounted for NYSUT members.

Ready to earn your Master of Education Degree, but don't know where to start? 

NYSUT's Education & Learning Trust, in partnership with SUNY Empire State College, offers members a path to earn up to 9 Empire State College graduate credits toward Empire State College's 30 credit online Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. Once you complete your 9 credits, you can matriculate into Empire State College using our partnership benefit program.  

To begin your degree, you can choose from 43 different ELT courses. Topics include curriculum design, instructional planning, and differentiated teaching.  

In Student Insight on Best Educational Practice, you will hear from students and discover 10 comprehensive and fresh ideas on precisely how to capture their imaginations. This research-based approach provides plentiful lesson ideas, vignettes, videos and insightful student interviews.

Right in your own community

Educators can earn CTLE hours at six regional learning centers. These seminars provided by NYSUT regional offices, are offered free of charge to NYSUT members. Find virtual and online seminars at your regional learning center. Local leaders can also request specific seminars from our ELT catalogue to be presented to their units by contacting elt@nysut.org. All seminars, except for the Dignity for All Students Act and Autism Spectrum Disorder, are CTLE approved and are requested by local presidents, assistant superintendents, professional development directors, NYSUT regional offices, BOCES and/or teacher centers.
