Helping to create learning environments for all our students

Helping to create learning environments for all our students

And earn CTLE hours

As educators, it’s our duty and our joy to teach children from every background in our public schools. Part of fulfilling this mission is to create classrooms where all our students can feel welcomed and learn. Many NYSUT members have taken “Stick & Stones,” the NYSUT workshop to help learn how they can welcome students of all backgrounds. Here are three related training sessions from ELT that may be beneficial. These online seminars are offered asynchronously, and each is worth 5 CTLE hours. All courses are discounted for NYSUT members.

Educators can also earn CTLE hours at six regional learning centers. These classes are organized by local union leaders and offered free of charge to NYSUT members.

In Equity in All Classrooms, educators get a blueprint for how to alter the all-too-predictable outcomes for historically underserved students. Using an equity framework, participants will develop a lens for detecting inequity in everyday classrooms, become adept at looking at the situation from multiple perspectives and develop actionable plans to negotiate obstacles to equity.
